This is one of the worst possible translations of the Sienkiewicz's novel 'Pan Wolodyjowski'. Jeremiah Curtin, unfotunately, did not have a good Polish, and relied heavily on his knowledge of Russian and on a Russian translation. But the original was in Polish, of course. It is impossible to have a flavour of Sienkiewicz's beautiful language by reading this version!
The keyword 'king Michal Korybut Wisniowiecki' may be misleading a bit. He is not the 'Michael' from the title, though he actually was the king of Poland on that time.
